Most of Phuket’s accommodation is in upmarket bungalow resorts and hotels on the beaches, especially Patong and Karon.

On Patong, moderately priced accommodation is poor value by usual Thai standards.

 
Because demand is so great, rudimentary facilities cost twice as much here as they would even in Bangkok, and during high season it’s almost impossible to find a simple fan-cooled room for less than B 400.
